Yes I am a year older again, but am not that worried anymore… My Birthdays normally are boring, but this time, IT ROCKED!!!
What’s new about my b’day this year is that I was out of town. My parents proposed this idea of going to shirdi for my b’day… I was so not up for it! I mean, c’mon I am ok with going to Shirdi on any given time of the year… but on my b’day? That’s a bit ODD. I had planned on spending the day with my family n friends, catching a movie n getting drunk or something (this is always on the agenda)… Divine intervention? Not so much…
I very reluctantly agreed to it, after my parents did the usual, EMOTIONAL BLACK MAIL! The only consolation being my cousins were also gona be there. We started our journey on Saturday afternoon, prior to that I took a pre-employment medical test (more scoop on this one in my next post). The journey started with a few arguments on which route to take considering it was raining a bit. Oh ya, n did I mention we were 22 of us, in 5 separate cars, with 22 different moods and 22 different point of views… And so we began our journey, the initial plan was to goto Nasik, stay over at my aunt’s place and then leave for Shirdi the next morning.
We got stuck in traffic for about an hour in Thane; Nasik was still 3 hrs away. We hit the highway after a long time and the road was empty… all drenched in the rains and the view was breath taking! Never have I seen such beauty! The trees looked like they were freshly bathed, the car was filled with the smell of wet soil, and the sky looked awesome! As we drove up the Kasara ghat, it got even better! The road was covered with clouds, it was foggy, the air was fresh and chilli. The temperature was way below 15, something no ac in the world can provide. We felt like we were driving on a carpet of clouds. It was so bloody romantic! I wish my baby was there too. I went on a photo-clicking spree; well can u blame me for it? What I remember most are the P(ee)t-stops we took during the journey. At every dhaba we stopped at, all we ordered was chai and pakoda’s and for ones, everyone wanted the same thing :P. I had not known what the big deal about chai and pakodas was; now I KNOW :D.
We reached Nasik at around 7 pm. We ended up spending 6 hrs on the road, including the pit-stops and gasping at the spectacular view. The rain did slow us down, but no one was complainingJ. After all the traveling all of us were together in the house, the grownups got on to their grownup drinking; the kids (us!) started to plan their drinking. (The catch here was, convincing the grownups that this was our first time :P). We finally hit gold when one of my older Jiju’s got us a bottle of Smirnoff (Muwah! Muwah!). We got the chakna on, and armed with Smirnoff and Breezers(for the still younger kids!) we got the party started. Each of the grown ups came in one by one to check on us, all of them were quite cool with it, or maybe they were all drunk themselves :P! All the drinking was fun, I duno how much I drank, but I was quite high! The calls and messages started pouring in a bit earlier. I remember who all called; I just don’t remember what I spoke. I got a call from my baby, I haven’t missed him so much ever! I wished he was right there with me to experience all of this…

When it was time, I was called into the hall with the lights switched off and a cake sitting on a chair with lit candles n stuff. I wonder how they managed to get one in the first place, considering we were in Nasik! It was very sweet J, I cut the cake and before I could eat it. I had most of it smeared on my face! The party continued for a while after that, I passed out sometime at around 2-3 am. I remember laughing a lot, answering a lot of calls, and the fact that it was my b’day! I have never been so happy on my B’day, REALLY! The plan for Shirdi was cancelled considering it was raining heavily again. We did go to Mukti Dhaam to sort of make-up for it. The journey back started at 2 PM. The atmosphere now was even awesomer… I just don’t have words to explain it! You have to see it to believe it! I got more calls from a lot of friends. Some couldn’t get through coz I was on roaming. I must sue Vodafone for this!
Gasping at views, pakodas and chai, and a 6 hr drive later we were back home. All we said was, we gota make more trips to Nasik in the rains! For the first time ever on my b’day, I was out of town, I was super-duper happy and satisfied, I was OFFICIALLY drunk, I was not worrying about getting old (I am going to be 24 for the rest of my life now, no matter how many b’days I celebrate). I couldn’t thank my parents and aunt enough for arranging this trip. This is by par one of the most satisfying day in my life, something I will cherish forever…I went to sleep with this HUGE smile on my face :D. Who ever said birthdays were about getting old! More celebrations followed on Monday for a different reason, more laters…
P.S: Missed you loads baby. I so wish you were there with me…
Happy Birthday to ME :D
